The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me on this journey!

Reflecting on the Juvenile Arthritis Conference, I felt that there was a need for a soft spot to land outside of Facebook.  I’ve met so many families in my JIA experiences and everyone seems to have the same “needs”–networking and getting to know other families that have been down similar roads of raising children with chronic rheumatic diseases.  I plan to invite friends and family to guest-blog on this site, and will link to Arthritis Foundation resources whenever possible, as their website is FULL of valuable information we can all benefit from.

I will overshare experiences and photos of my family.  I can 100% promise you that.  Megan is my inspiration and motivation for everything I do in the world of research and quality improvement.  I plan to also be sure to expand (myself and via guest bloggers) on the sibling and family dynamics topic we enjoyed at the DC Conference.  I will soon have a link to a comprehensive list of the research currently being done through CARRA and PARTNERS, as well as how to connect with those organizations.  I also plan to share quite a bit about the work I do with PR-COIN and the Learning Health System.

Last, I plan to devote some time and energy to my own rheumatic disease, and invite adult rheumatology guest bloggers to share their experiences with Ankylosing Spondylitis and other arthritis conditions.

My next blog post will be a personal bio.  Stay tuned, and PLEASE reach out if you have any ideas!!

The silver lining of a JIA diagnosis is the relationships you develop with other families on the same journey.
